For some people, wine and beer is the way to spend an evening with friends.
For other people, it's gin and rum and tequila. But what happens when you always went for spirits and are looking to cut down on your alcohol intake?
There's a range of reasons that people opt to not drink, or to stop drinking. And sometimes people can find themselves wanting the taste of these drinks without the effects on the body.
There are a number of brands that cater to those searching for non-alcoholic alternatives and this week I tried quite the range.
Clean Co has gins, tequila and a rum alternative that were not like I expected.
Clean G is a gin alternative that I found to be quite sharp and lemon heavy. It also manages to be quite watery at the same time.
I think if you're a fan of tonic then this might be a good fit, or if you find lemonade too sweet.
It's not a drink I'd expect to reach for myself, but I think it could be a decent option for those who want to mix something into their drink at parties and don't like sugary flavours (I think kiwi syrup and lemonade makes a lovely non-alcoholic option).

Clean G Pink surprised me, it's really tasty.
Again it's quite watery but the fruity notes come through really well.
This is without a doubt my favourite of the Clean Co collection and is good option for parties that want to offer their alcohol free guests something other than lemonade or cordial.

Clean R has a strong smoke flavour, I think it's a great option for those who typically would want Cut to the Smoke.
I'm more of a spiced rum fan, but I think that this would work really well with cola.
This wasn't a great fit for me but I can see people enjoying it.

You made it this far and I've not said which one I couldn't swallow, so you'd be right to guess it's the tequila alternative.
If you really love tequila then this might be a good fit to you, but I don't. It was not a good fit for me.
