I tried booking EasyJet or RyanAir 'green list' flights from Liverpool JLA & it was 'clear and easy'

Families could look forward to a holiday abroad as the government announced plans to lift some restrictions on travel from May 17.

The Department for Transport unveiled a traffic light system last week with each country placed into a different coloured category depending on its Covid 19 risk levels.

Destinations will be placed on either a red, amber or green list with passengers able to travel to these places without needing to quarantine on their return to UK.

However, if they do test positive for coronavirus they will have to self-isolate.

Countries on the green list include Australia, Brunei, Falkland Islands, Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, Iceland, Israel and Jerusalem, New Zealand Portugal (including the Azores and Madeira), Singapore, South Georgia and South Sandwich Islands, St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha.

Most schools break up the week beginning July 19, so we decided to try and book a flight to Portugal to see how easy it was and how much it would cost for a holiday this summer.

easyJet

Choosing the cheapest flight available on easyJet 's website (on May 11, 2021) current prices for flights from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to Faro, Portugal leaving July 20, 2021 and returning July 27 for two adults and two children cost a total of £445.92.

Flying from Manchester departing July 19 and returning July 27 for two adults and two children would be slightly cheaper at £429.92 altogether.

The standard fares included taxes and a small cabin bag. Before you book, EasyJet provides all the essential coronavirus information you need before travelling on the page.

It was relatively easy to find flights and book and it was made clear all the procedures you have to follow while travelling and they also offer a price protection promise.

Ryanair

Ryanair is currently advertising flights from £9.99 from May to July - the cheapest flights in July start from £19.99 on Sunday, July 4, one-way only.

Choosing the cheapest flight available (on May 11, 2021) current prices for flights from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to Faro, Portugal leaving July 20, 2021 and returning July 27 for two adults and two children cost £111.98 per person.

Flying from Manchester departing July 19 and returning July 27 for two adults and two children would cost £114.26 per person.

The value fare includes one small bag only. Again it wasn't too difficult to find flights, however I did have to go searching for coronavirus information, it wasn't immediately on the page like with easyJet, but I eventually found this guide to flying during the pandemic.
