I've never been a fan of pizza for breakfast, you know that leftover kind from the night before that you bought on the way home after a great evening out.
I've always preferred a big slap-up full English breakfast to cure a hangover.
So when I saw that Asda had launched a Big Breakfast pizza - I had mixed feelings. The retailer has released the pizza especially for football fans celebrating Euro 2020.

Yeah sure, I've had mushrooms and sausage on a pizza before - but crispy bacon, hash browns and....Heinz baked beans. To me, that's just plain wrong.
For £4, the large pizza is quite hefty with lashings of toppings piled high on a tomato and cheese pizza base.
It didn't take long to cook, about 10 minutes in our fan oven at 190C and it came out steaming and sizzling where the cheese had all melted and it did smell quite nice too. But I still wasn't convinced.
I sliced it up and gave it a try (you can see my reaction in the video above). Because of the hefty toppings a few of the beans fell off before it even got it to my mouth but after the first bite I realised I might have underestimated it.
It actually tasted quite nice, with the cheese pulling together all the breakfast components.
I was actually quite surprised just how well it worked although I don't think Italians would approve!
I could only manage a couple of slices, it is quite stodgy and filling.
However, I did like it and for £4 it packs a punch (to the gut) and is probably a great family treat to share while watching the football. Or failing that stick one in the oven the morning after - while you're nursing your sore head.
