I tried a Korean beauty moisturiser and saw instant results

I’d never actually heard of ‘Cica cream’ before until recently, and now, I can’t stop using it.

The 'antioxidant-rich' moisturiser is ideal for sensitive skin, with the word ‘cica’ being short for ‘centella asiatica’, a herb native to parts of Asia and Africa. I’ve always had trouble with my skin, but recently I’ve been suffering massively with dry skin due to a new cleanser and weather changes, so I needed a quick fix.

There are plenty of Cica creams available online , with a variety of different masks, moisturisers and treatments designed to nourish dry skin. I managed to get my hands on some skincare products by K-beauty brand ‘Atomy’ to test out their ‘Derma Real Circa Set’ .

I decided to try the moisturiser on its own at first, and was blown away by how quickly it worked. Here’s my verdict on the growing trend of ‘Cica cream’.

Many big brands such as Neogen and Laneige available on BeautyBay have Cica creams on offer, and it’s easy to see why. Thick in consistency, you can tell at first glance that a little goes a long way with this product.

I applied the Atomy moisturiser after all of my usual cleansers and serums and wasn’t sure what to expect. It wasn’t scented, and had a thick yet soft feel when applied to my face.

I didn’t need much, and it dried really quickly unlike some moisturisers that can be very tacky. After one application, I woke up the next morning with extremely soft skin.

My skin didn’t feel greasy the next morning either, which is always a bonus - it felt soft and looked very matte. As well as softness, my skin also looked a lot brighter, which could be down to the cica reducing redness.

I’ve been using this moisturiser religiously twice a day morning and evening for a week, and I’m already seeing a huge difference in my skin. I’d go as far to say this is one of the best moisturisers I’ve used, and I totally understand the hype with K-beauty.
