As someone who regularly bleaches my hair, it can be tough keeping it in a reasonable condition.
I look back on times when I never used to use treatments on my hair, and wonder why it felt and looked like straw.
After regularly having full heads of bleach, my hair began to snap off to the point where I had a big gap at the back of my hair, which didn’t look great.

A number of people recommended the Olaplex range, which claims to repair broken bonds and rejuvenate your hair. Over time, I invested in the whole Olaplex hair collection, which to put it bluntly cost me an absolute fortune.
The No. 3 at home hair protector description claims to “prolong salon colour, permanently rebuild dry and brittle strands and reverse signs of bleach damage.”
When using the mask, I often left it on overnight and washed it off in the morning with the Olaplex shampoo.
Honestly? My hair felt soft, yes, but the results of the No. 3 hair protector didn’t completely blow me away.
A friend of mine, who shared the same views about Olaplex as me, recommended the Kérastase hair range. Granted, their hair masks are slightly more expensive than the Olaplex No. 3, ranging around £30, but I thought I’d give one a try.
I’d never heard of the brand before, and it took me a while to realise that Kérastase was actually part of the L'Oréal products division. Upon recommendation, I went for the Kérastase Resistance Therapiste Masque, which is designed to boost hair elasticity.
It smelt absolutely amazing, almost luxurious, and I think the packaging really helped make it feel like a genuine treat.
The Olaplex No. 3 comes in a small shampoo-like container, and I really think that a more aesthetically pleasing packaging would’ve helped.
I only left the Kérastase on for 10 minutes maximum, as opposed to all night with the Olaplex, and I saw instant results. My hair felt silky smooth, and generally in a much better condition just after one use, whereas Olaplex takes time, in my opinion.
I've even used the treatment as a conditioner for an extra boost after having a full head of highlights, and seen instant results. The conditioning treatment is extremely strong, and ensures my blonde hair is looking fresh and vibrant.
After using Olaplex, I've often found that my colour wasn't as strong, and if I want that icy blonde effect, Olaplex could make it feel brassy.
I was absolutely blown away with the Kérastase hair mask, although it’s £5 more expensive than the Olaplex, I truly believe it’s worth it. If you want to have your hair feeling like you’ve just walked out of the salon everyday, I’d highly recommend this treatment.
