I tried a £45 John Lewis 'Anyday' animal print dress and it was 'so comfy'

A trip to John Lewis for something to wear can often end up being an expensive one, which is why I was drawn to its 'Anyday' range.

The 'Anyday' range is all about 'affordable options' for fashion. If I'm being totally honest, I would say that £45 for a dress is a little steep for me personally, but I'm often drawn to fast fashion brands that offer naff quality clothes - so maybe this is the way forward.

It wasn't until I tried on this Heart Animal Print Square Neck Dress for £45 that I understood the hype around the popular retailer. The dress was extremely comfortable with a very soft material and looked effortlessly fashionable, making it worth the money after all.

The Heart Animal Print Square Neck Dress is described by John Lewis as "on-trend, lightweight and effortlessly stylish" and I've got to admit - that description is bang on the money. As soon as I put this dress on, I felt instantly 'put together' without looking too formal, and very comfortable.

The full product description reads: " What's not to love with this dress? Combining the style of animal print with the charm of hearts, we've splashed an abstract print throughout and designed it with an on-trend square neckline. With a subtle slit at the hem for yet more style points, it's the perfect dress up or dress down option your wardrobe has been waiting for."

At first, I thought the dress was strictly animal print. But it wasn't until I got closer that I realised it was actually printed with tiny little hearts - a very cute touch.

I opted for my usual size (12) but definitely could've sized down due to the lightweight, smock material. In terms of details, I loved the fact this dress had sleeves.

It wasn't too long for my 5'3 frame (Emily Sleight/ Liverpool ECHO)

Sleeves may not be important to some, but I've always preferred sleeves on a dress because I get particularly self conscious about my arms. The fact this dress had sleeves also meant that it was a great option for cooler summer nights without having to bring a jacket as extra baggage.

Let's talk about how flowy this dress is though, because I felt super feminine wearing this. It complemented my 5'3 frame perfectly - something that midi dresses don't always do.

The sizing was actually quite generous and I could've sized down if I wanted to, but I always prefer to have a little more give, especially if I'm going out for some food! I styled the dress with some black converse, but it was really versatile and could've been paired with white trainers or even heels.

The material of this dress was a winner for me, the 'Viscose' was incredibly soft and lightweight, perfect for the summer. Sometimes a midi dress can be clingy and uncomfortable, but this one felt as light as a feather.

I don't usually look in the John Lewis clothing section all to often, but I'm definitely going to start now. The 'Anyday' range seems much more affordable, offering great quality to match. You can purchase the £45 dress here.
