'I took DNA test and found out my grandma is a child killer - there are TV shows about her'

An adopted man has been left horrified after uncovering a sickening secret about his biological family when looking into his ancestry.

He explained how he innocently took an at-home DNA testing kit to track down his biological parents or any siblings he might have - but ended up regretting it.

Taking to Reddit, he said: "I was adopted in 1999 - but have been digging into my biological ancestry over the last year or so. My biological maternal grandfather divorced my grandmother in the late 70s to early 80s. My mother is his daughter from a prior marriage. He remarried a woman not long after, in the mid 80s, they had three kids together."

However, at this point, the grandfather didn't know the horror his new wife would inflict on their innocent children.

The man added: "She snuffed their youngest son in his sleep. [One year later], she did the same thing to his older brother.

"She was convicted in [the early 1990s] of murdering both of her sons and attempting to murder her oldest child, an eight-year-old girl, by throwing a hair dryer in the tub while she was in the bath.

"The girl survived and was put into protective custody."

He later learned his step-grandmother is currently serving two life sentences with no possibility of parole - and has become the subject of "a book or two" as well as a true crime documentary.

After researching her crimes in more detail, he discovered she'd taken out life insurance policies on the children not long before killing them.

While he is pleased he is not directly related to this woman, he has shared a thought for his half-uncles who tragically died at her hands.

"She killed them for the money," he added.

Commenting on his post, one user said: "OMG I have no words."

Another user added: "That story sounds very familiar - I think I've seen it on a show?"

A third user said: "Holy s***. That's bananas."
