I thought I was over the splatterware trend, but I am seeing it everywhere again this summer – and these new pieces have persuaded me it's worth a revisit

A stack of splatterware dinnerware on a homeware book displayed on a wooden shelf next to two gold candlesticks.

Splatterware was everywhere last year. Of course, it's not a new print, it's been around for centuries, but it made such a strong comeback last year that I rarely saw a kitchen shelf or outdoor dining table that didn't feature this abstract print. And it's back again for 2025, and this time I have been convinced it's the perfect print to bring into my kitchen to add a subtle hit of pattern.

I think I am more drawn to this revived pattern trend this summer because I am seeing more options, new colorways, and more exciting pieces; it's not just blue splattered bowls and plates. Anthropologie's most recent Splatterware launch features lilac and red takes on the look, and Shea McGee has brought Sharland England's lovely pink and terracotta offerings over to our side of the pond.

So I've made it my mission to find the chicest splatterware buys to fill my kitchen with this playful print that never seems to really go away. Whether you love bright, busy colors or more neutral, pared-back designs, these are the 9 buys I'm most excited about.

9 splatterware kitchen buys I'm obsessed with right now

If you're not familiar with splatterware, it looks just as you're probably imagining. It's intentionally a bit messy, made to look as though an artist has quite literally splattered paint all over the ceramics.

And while this abstract design is nothing new – it has roots in the 1700s, and in the 1800s, it was produced in England for sale in the States – its resurgence this year is perhaps unsurprising. It's fun, characterful, and adds that personality to kitchens that we've all been craving.

So, whether you want a statement vase as the centerpiece of your kitchen island, a new tableware set for your outdoor dining room, or unexpected accessories to make everyday essentials a little more exciting, this is your sign to embrace the splatter print as it's clearly a timeless summer decor idea.

Have I convinced you to embrace splatterware this summer too? This print is an easy way to elevate your interiors with ceramics in an unexpected way, bringing personality and interest to your kitchen scheme. Whether you introduce a small, subtle decor piece or swap your full dinnerware set with a colorful design, this is your sign to embrace the splatter print revival.
