'I thought about taking my own life' Girlfriend of Scot torched by brother while sleeping speaks out four years on from his death

The devastated girlfriend of a Scots man brutally murdered in a fire attack by his own brother has said she considered taking her own life as she was 'pretty lost'.

Heartbroken Rebecca Williams was reflecting nearly four years on from the death of Cameron Logan in a video posted by the charity who have helped her deal with the 'most challenging years of her life'.

Cameron was just 23 when he died after brother Blair set him on fire at their family home in Milngavie on New Year's Day, 2017.

The depraved murderer, 27, doused Cameron and the bed he was sharing with Rebecca in petrol as they both slept.

Rebecca was rescued from the blaze and treated in hospital, while Logan's parents were treated for smoke inhalation.

In an emotive video posted by Scottish Charity Advent Rebecca revealed that the charity had 'saved her' and urged others to get help.

She said: "I've never been the sort of person who thought I'd reach a stage where I'd consider taking my own life but I was pretty lost and the Manda Centre definitely saved me.

"I lost my partner Cameron in a deliberate fire in 2017. It was a house fire I was also involved with so the counselling I needed post-event was also quite complicated."

She described how she needed not only help to get over the immense loss of her partner but also had to endure a tracheotomy after suffering horrific burns in the blaze.

She added: "I literally reached out to them when I felt I couldn't control it anymore so actually I'd be frightened to think what would have happened if I hadn't found them.

"I was so angry all the time, I felt like I'd lost my purpose, my aim in life.

"It sounds dramatic to say but my reason for existing- I'd lost my partner, sense of self worth, respect."

Brave Rebecca said her new job in the police could bring 'triggers' back to the murder, but the counsellors at the Manda Centre have helped her.

Lockdown has also had a severe impact on Rebecca because she was shielding from March until June and this gave her 'far too much time to think'.

She added: "Because I was by myself, I kept going 'If Cameron was here we would be in lockdown together and it wouldn't be so bad'.

"I felt so far removed from everything normal but I think it was such a relief when I found June and everyone at the centre.

Tesco worker Blair, who had a "hostile relationship" with his brother, admitted pouring petrol "with the intention of maiming or crippling" him but claimed he did not mean to kill him.

Blair, who was also convicted with the attempted murder of Rebecca, says he thought she was "out of the room" and said he "did not wish to murder [his] parents".

While sharing the video, Rebecca wrote on Twitter: "It’s been four years since Cameron’s murder.

"The most challenging years of my life.

"The Manda Centre has been supporting me as I heal and rebuild.

"I hope sharing my experience helps others, and highlights the truly life-saving work of this amazing charity. Please share/donate."
