I've been a photographer and video producer for over 15 years, and more recently, as TechRadar's Cameras Editor, I've also been shooting social media content, especially for TikTok. Through trial and error, I've slowly put together the gear that covers my TikTok content needs every time, and what's even better is that every item below fits into one small sling bag.
Naturally, you want a decent video camera, and I've included the DJI Pocket 3 vlogging camera and a camera phone here as I use both. Clear audio is crucial for quality productions, and a top wireless mic will give you that – DJI's own pairs seamlessly with the Pocket 3, the Godox Cube C is superb with phones. I love adding a little light to my subjects where possible, and a portable mini LED video light does the trick.
Positioning the camera can be a challenge, so a selfie stick for walking-and-talking moments (with a phone mount if shooting with a phone, while a built-in tripod is handy if you can rest the camera on a surface) and a neck mount for hands-free first-person views are super handy. And I've included the specific sling/crossbody bag I rely on, which enables me to remain agile and have quick access to my gear.
I have stopped short of adding personal hygiene items in here, but you'll find them in my bag too – mints, fragrance, hair powder, and a comb to make sure I smell and look fresh.
I've included the items I'm currently using, but of course, there are plenty of alternatives available, especially when we're talking cameras and wireless mics. For other options, you should check out my best vlogging cameras, best wireless mics, and best camera phone guides.
