An Oklahoma woman says she checked back into her Hampton Inn hotel room before noon, only to find housekeeping had already stripped everything. She still had personal belongings in the room.
Hampton Inn Allegedly ‘Kicks Woman Out’ Before She Checks Out
TikToker Jenna Hill (@jennahillofficial) posted a video that got over 16,200 views, detailing a hotel incident she says happened at a Hampton Inn in Enid, Oklahoma.
“This is literally [expletive] wild, guys,” she says in the video.
Jenna says she was in town for her son’s soccer tournament. After a rough night dealing with a migraine and vomiting, she said she planned to return to the room for a nap.
“Checkouts not until noon,” she recalls thinking. “I’m gonna go back to the hotel room because it’s like, 10 something, and I’m gonna go get a nap in before his finals.”
Instead, she says, “We get into our room, which still has the do not disturb sign out, and housekeeping has completely emptied the room.” She describes stripped beds and bare pillows. “All that’s left is the mattress protector.”
Jenna confronted the housekeeping staff, asking why they were in the room. “We have not checked out yet. Why are you in here?” she describes asking them. The response, she says, was that the housekeeping team wasn’t told who had or hadn’t checked out yet.
Staff Is of No Help, Allegedly
Jenna says she called the front desk. “Can you bring me some [expletive] sheets or something?” she asked. But they didn’t arrive. Ten minutes passed, then she called again. “I’m not trying to be a pain here, but, like, time’s ticking,” she added. “I’m running out of time. I was up all night. I’ve got to get a nap in.”
That’s when she was told there was no bedding available. “It’s all in the wash.” She asked if that meant each room only has one set of sheets.
“What if somebody vomits and stains the bedding?” she asked. “You just put stained bedding back on?”
Jenna then asked if she could go to another room for a nap. “He’s like, yeah, but you’re gonna have to pay for the room.”
She was furious. “I already bought a room. All I want is a [expletive] blanket, some sheets.” The front desk told her the manager wasn’t working that day and couldn’t be called. “This is insane. Literally insane,” she concluded.
Does This Happen Often?
One user on Reddit’s r/askhotels said a similar thing happened to them. Housekeeping not only entered the room and stripped the bedding, but also removed all personal belongings, including anime convention merchandise.
In the comments, some users who claimed to work in hotels said this sort of thing can happen when housekeeping sees the checkout date and assumes a guest has left. Others said it’s a serious breach to enter a room that has a “Do Not Disturb” sign.
Whatever the case may be, we’ve reached out to Hilton via email to find out more.
Commenter Response Is Split
In the comments, users had different views on the situation.
“Although a real inconvenience, housekeeping only sees that you are checking out that day,” one person wrote. “Many people check out without telling the front desk or removing the do not disturb sign.”
They added that housekeeping must get the rooms turned over “as quick as possible because new people are coming in to check into the room and they have a hotel of rooms to clean.”
@jennahillofficial @HamptonInn this is wild. Your staff emptied my room before I had checked out. I still had personal belongings in the room, checkout is at noon. So tell me why at 10am I come back to my room to find housekeeping in here and all my bedding gone. Your staff says I can’t have more bedding. They won’t give me a room with bedding. They say there’s no manager on site or available by phone. Do better! #hamtoninn #hamptoninnenid #hilton #hotel ♬ original sound – The real Jenna Hill
Someone else disagreed. “I used to be a GM for Hilton. This isn’t right. Unless you turned your keys into the front desk, no one should have went in there, ESPECIALLY if you still had stuff in there.”
Another commenter added, “As someone who has worked many jobs in a hotel, this is completely on the housekeeper. The manager gives the list of rooms that are leaving that day to each housekeeper. If there are items in the room, the housekeeper is to not touch it. They are only allowed to touch rooms that are checked out. The manager goes to the non-checked-out rooms after checkout to check if they vacated the room. Also, every housekeeping cart has extra bedding.”
