'I splashed out on eyelash extensions - but regretted it as they went painfully wrong'

When it comes to our faces there are numerous ways we can alter our appearance, from skilful make-up application to beauty treatments and cosmetic procedures.

These days many people like to get their eyebrows and lashes done, tinting and adding extensions.

However, it seems you might want to do your research before opting for the latter as one woman has shared her horrendous experience.

A TikTok user named Dakota Treacy has gone viral after sharing the botched eyelash extensions she recently paid for - claiming she "went through hell" and was left in pain.

Posting under the name @deeeeeee60, Dakota shared a look at what she had hoped her eyelashes would look like and how they actually turned out.

Dakota was given huge fake eyelashes, which had been stuck to her lid with a ridiculous amount of glue.

She described it as feeling like superglue had been applied to her eye.

"It's so much worse than it even looked in the video," she explained. "Now they look bad, but they don't look too bad, but if you actually look in closer, under my eye, all of the remnants of glue - she obviously used so much glue.

"It feels literally on my eyes like she used superglue. I've had eyelash extensions before, done very very very well and I've never been in this amount of pain or have experienced this before ever."

In a follow-up video, she continued: "My life has been hell the last couple of days - I've been in so much pain."

Thousands of people took to the comments to share their horror over the extensions, with one lash technician warning that Dakota could "lose her eyelashes" if she tried to pull the glue off herself.

Thankfully Dakota was able to find a professional who could fix the mess and give her the dream extensions she'd wanted all along.

She added: "My new lash tech who was so gentle and kind and patient - it took her 45 minutes with the solution and whatever to get those things off my eyes.

"She saved my eyelashes - if I'd have kept them on any longer I probably wouldn't have any eyelashes left.

"For some miraculous reason my eyelashes weren't damaged, she put. anew set on and they are so nice and honestly, that's what I was going for - I didn't want to look like f***ing Eugene Levy."

Dakota finished the video by sharing that she had tried to complain to the original woman, but had been blocked.

She went on to advise others to do their research before getting extensions.
