A cash strapped mum from Wigan says her son has had to sell some of his game consoles so he doesn't have to ask for pocket money due to the rising costs of energy.

Speaking on Sky News, families and businesses reacted with despair to the energy price cap hike and viewers heard how Brandon Dempsey from Wigan has sold his games consoles including his PS4 and PS3 to help his mum, Amy, with the rising cost of living.

Amy says: "You're thinking more about what you do as opposed to just leaving the play station on or any games, things that he has."

One says: "I guess I am going to have money in my account but by the time I get there the electricity and gas has taken it. I don't know how long I can continue or other people can continue like that. "
