I think the biggest problem with being a nerd in this day and age is that there are too many cool things vying for our attention... and with the arrival of a whole batch of new Lego sets in May 2026, that struggle's not getting any easier. Premium Star Wars models, Toy Story sets, and soccer kits are now winging our way, attacking wallets across a range of fandoms.
So, which of the new Lego sets in May 2026 should you consider? Are any of them contenders for our list of the best Lego sets? For me, three rise above the rest... including one that is, in my professional opinion, bloody gorgeous. If you can only buy one or two models this month, or feel a bit overwhelmed by the amount of choice on offer, I'd prioritize the following models.

Despite Star Wars Day (AKA May 4) kicking off the month, this Ultimate Collector Series model is the only Lego Star Wars set arriving in May. But oh boy, does it make up for the shortage. It's incredibly sleek 'n' stylish, with exposed engine-parts to make it feel so much more intricate than it actually is. This is my set of the month by a mile.
I instantly fell in love with last year's Happy Plants due to their cheery disposition, so this shot to the top of my wishlist as soon as I saw it. Rather than just rehashing the formula with new plants, these cheerful little guys rock around your desk thanks to circular bases. They'll bring a smile to the face of all but the most cold-hearted souls.
I like the look of this Slinky set anyway as a card-carrying Toy Story fan, but its practical nature gives me even more reason to recommend it. If you're anything like me, you don't have loads of space to display collectibles... so this bookend design is appealing, because it fits around the stuff I already have out.
