'I regret my children’s boring names – I should have been more adventurous'

Youtuber and mum-of-three Sarah-Jayne Strum took to her channel to admit that she regrets the names she picked for her three children.

Speaking honestly to her subscribers, she admitted ‘people-pleasing’ when it came to choosing what to call her two sons and daughter.

She eventually chose Frederick David for her first son, Finn Barnaby Boo for her middle child and Evelina Blossom for her youngest.

"I always loved floral names," she said.

"My husband hated all flower names, he wanted a stronger, more classic girl name and that they are not to be taken seriously.

"I really disagree and feel I should have been a bit firmer."

Sarah-Jayne, known as SJ to fans, said her other choices for Evelina had been Marlowe, Florence, Juniper and Bronte.

She continued: "We wanted to be a bit safe in our choices and that’s something that I regret, I think I went way too safe, I think I just went too middle road and I should have pushed the boat out a lot more."

She also admitted that there had been a particular boys' name that she'd always loved.

SJ explained: "The number one name I really regret because I didn’t give it enough of a chance was the name Atticus.

"It’s a people pleaser thing when you pick names because you worry about what other people will think of it.

"If I went back I think I would be a lot braver because I definitely regret not sticking to my convictions and listening to other people.

"Don’t pick the one you think everyone else is going to like - pick the one you think is a bit more unique and special and you will love."

This isn't the first time the mum-of-three has made headlines.

In 2017, SJ made the news after she broadcast her labour of Eveline to 200,000 people online.

She currently boasts 116K subscribers on her popular YouTube channel, where she posts content about parenthood.

In a video welcoming newcomers to the channel, the influencer says: "I started YouTube because motherhood and parenting is literally the best thing I've ever been lucky enough to do.

"I wanted to capture it. I wanted to literally capture every single second I could.

"I know for an absolute fact that one day when I'm older, I'll sit and watch hours and hours of these videos and I'll definitely cry, I'll hopefully laugh, and I know I'll just wish to go back to their childhood just for one single day, and I hope through this that I kind of can."
