When people leave their jobs, they don’t always go quietly. Greg Smith quit Goldman Sachs in 2012 with a blistering article in the New York Times, a 60-minute TV interview and, as if that were not enough, a book.
More recently, Chris Holmes resigned from his job at Stansted airport to run a bakery – and handed in his resignation letter on a cake. Meanwhile, flight attendant Steven Slater, who lost his patience with a passenger he claimed treated him rudely, left his job by activating the emergency evacuation chute on the plane and sliding down it, beer in hand.
From the outlandish to the ordinary, we want to hear your stories about quitting work. What pushed you over the edge? How did you go about breaking the news to your boss and co-workers? What was their response? And what did you go on to do next?
