Every week a Guardian Money reader submits a question, and it’s up to you to help him or her out – a selection of the best answers will appear in next Saturday’s paper.
This week’s question:
I promised my 16-year-old son a £213 ticket for the Reading Festival if he studied hard. But he hasn’t. Can I reasonably refuse to make the booking and risk big sulks? Or do I buy it and hope the results are OK, withdrawing it if they’re a disaster?
