LeBron James’ ‘I Promise’ school unveils new basketball court for Year 2

LeBron James was in Ohio last night at the Cedar Point Theme Park for the annual family reunion event put on by the LeBron James Family Foundation for their hundreds of ‘I Promise’ students. The ‘I Promise’ vision became a public school in his hometown of Akron last year and the operation that LeBron is backing continues to grow, with the King stopping by to unveil several improvements.

The most visually striking upgrade is this new basketball court that was donated by 2K Foundations and Xbox.

In addition to the new court, other improvements to the school were made through a $1 million donation from LeBron.

Among the improvements are a new media lab for students to pursue creative projects and a family training center for students suffering through trauma to go through counseling in to facilitate better learning rather than having those students be suspended or expelled for disruptive behavior in the classroom.

The “I Promise” school has also expanded to include 5th grade students after being a school exclusively for 3rd and 4th graders last year.
