'I probably shouldn't say these words' - Roy Keane's big Liverpool admission after Tottenham win

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane believes that Liverpool 'played like champions' in their 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds had trailed to Harry Kane's 1st minute header and they took a while to get going against their fellow Champions League final opponents.

However Jordan Henderson fired Jurgen Klopp's side level after 52 minutes before Mohamed Salah slammed in a 75th-minute penalty to ensure three points.

The result means that the Reds have reopened the six point gap to Manchester City in second place as they look to win their first league title in 30 years.

Keane, speaking on Sky Sports, has now admitted that he thinks that the Reds are looking every bit like champions after their latest impressive victory.

Asked if the win sends a message to their rivals, he explained "That's what you are doing every week. Man City have put Liverpool under pressure today by getting a good result.

"Liverpool have responded and that is the name of the game. They have to keep going. They will be disappointed to have conceded but they have recovered well.

"You have to keep going. No-one is going to hand you the championship. You have to earn the right, week-in and week out. Whether you play well or not.

"They have grinded the result out today. I think the goals were gifted by Tottenham, poor defending. But over the course of the 90 minutes they were the better team.

"Do you know what, I probably shouldn't say these words, but they played like champions. They responded really well and were by far the better team. "
