'I only date men with the same name - it sounds crazy but it works'

Anyone who use the variety of dating apps available these days will have a few things they always look out for when searching for the perfect match. Maybe you want to see how old they are, whether you share any hobbies or what they do for work. But one woman has gone viral after sharing what she looks out for when she is on dating apps, and it's all to do with names.

Elle Winter is a TikTok user who usually shares clips from her life as a musician, but a recent clip has racked up nearly 160,000 likes after she spoke about her unique hack for dating.

In the clip, Elle talks to the camera and she said: "I'm going to sound crazy.

"But I need to share this with you all as I know it will help someone. I only date boys with the name Alex and I promise it is the best dating hack you will ever find."

From here, she talks about the first time she dated a boy with the name. Elle explains that when she was 17, she broke up with an Alex which left her heartbroken. Every time she heard or saw the name, she became upset.

"But a few months later, I coincidentally started going on a few dates with this boy named Alex," she stated.

"And then suddenly I was dating another Alex."

She goes onto say that this allowed her to reclaim the name again and not be upset when she heard it. But also in a practical way it helped things along too. Given most of her family knew of her dating the first boy it was easier for them to remember the name.

"And then when Alex number two and I broke up," she explained.

"I started going on dating apps and I thought I should continue this trend of only dating boys named Alex.

"I didn't have to come up with elaborate nicknames for these boys for my friends, it was just Alex."

Elle explained that she can just refer to them as Alex one, two or three in order of when she dated them.

In response to this unique dating hack, many flooded with the comments with their thoughts on only dating people with the same name.

One person wrote: "Imagine your soul mate has another name and you don't give him the chance."

While somebody else joked: "What if everyone only dates Alexs and then all of them are taken and there are none left for you."
