'I need a break' - Liverpool fans react as Fulham defeat sees Reds hit 'new low'

Liverpool supporters have reacted with despair after their side were beaten 1-0 by Fulham in the Premier League on Sunday.

Mario Lemina’s first-half goal was enough for Scott Parker’s side to take a vital three points home with them from Anfield.

Defeat means Liverpool have now lost six successive games at home - an unprecedented run of form which leaves Jurgen Klopp’s side as big outsiders to finish in the top four.

Klopp made seven changes to the side which were beaten 1-0 by Chelsea on Thursday, with Sadio Mane, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho dropped to the bench.

But the front three of Mohamed Salah, Xherdan Shaqiri and Diogo Jota could not find a way past Alphonse Areola in the Fulham goal as the visitors deservedly held on to win at Anfield for the first time since 2012.

The Reds had gone 68 home league matches unbeaten, stretching back to April 2017, before their current run started with a loss against Burnley in January.

They have scored just once at Anfield in 2021, via Salah’s penalty in the 4-1 defeat by Manchester City, and Liverpool fans are almost lost for words at their form.

Liverpool managed just three shots on target against Fulham, with their best chance coming when Areola saved from Jota’s powerful volley.

Joachim Anderson made a crucial block late on from Andy Robertson’s cross, but in truth, Liverpool rarely troubled the relegation-threatened side.

Their goal was the result of poor defending from the much-changed Reds backline, as Robertson failed to clear the ball and Salah was brushed off the ball by Lemina, who then powered a low finish past Alisson.

Liverpool are seventh in the Premier League, four points off Chelsea in fourth ahead of the Blues’ game against fifth-placed Everton tomorrow.
