'I named my daughter after my favourite snack – trolls hate it but I don't care'

Choosing a baby name is one of the toughest decisions parents face, especially if you know the choice is likely to prove controversial.

Do you stick to your guns? Or do you listen to the naysayers?

One mum who held fast after trolls criticised her daughter's name has opened up about her experience - and defended her choice.

The proud parent claims she's named her daughter Pickle, and she beamed with happiness when she shared the news on TikTok.

Unfortunately, not all viewers were so impressed by the snack-inspired name and some slammed her choice.

In a name-reveal video posted by @chantelschnider, mum Chantel smiled as she tucked into a jar of pickles before sharing her daughter's name.

"I'm going to get hate for her name but we will call her... Pickle," she wrote, before introducing baby Pickle to the camera.

In another, she joked: "You get five minutes added to your life every time someone asks if you really named your daughter Pickle."

It's fair to assume the mum gets asked the question regularly if the comment section of her videos is anything to go by, as viewers often repeat the same questions.

Responding to the announcement, several viewers questioned whether or not they were being tricked. Meanwhile, others shared their opinions about the name.

"It's none of my business but Please don't name your child pickle," wrote one person. A second said: "Don't be surprised when she comes back from school crying."

Someone claimed: "That's a child not a pet. She will come home from school crying because of you and your favorite [sic] food."

But another replied: "I love that name," and a different person put: "OMG THAT'S SO CUTE I LOVE THAT."

Regardless, it doesn't look like the parent was discouraged by the negative feedback as she's continued to share videos affectionately referring to her daughter as Pickle.
