I may have missed out on my childhood, but I have no complaints: Reem Shaikh

Reem Shaikh, who was last seen in the TV show Fanaa: Ishq Mein Marjawaan, is gearing up for her next show Bhediya. She says, “I had actually gone to audition for another show when I got to know about Bhediya. I was keen on getting the role, but was told they were looking for a new face. Eventually though, I bagged the role.”

Reem, who started off as a child artiste, is happy with the way her career has shaped up. She shares, “I started acting when I was just six-years-old. While I may have missed out on a major part of my childhood, I have no regrets. In my initial years, I went to a regular school, but later, I opted for homeschooling due to work commitments.”

She continues, “It was difficult to make close friends since many people just wanted to be pals with me because I was acting at a young age. They were more interested in my profession than me. When you gain something, you also lose something. But I don’t have any regrets about my choice of profession all these years.”

Reem may have worked continuously since childhood, but in recent times has managed to strike a balance between her personal and professional life. She says, “Now after every show, be it Tujhse Hai Raabta or Fanaa, I make sure that I take a short break before taking up my next project. I am finally achieving work-life balance. A few years ago, I was working continuously, but now I know the importance of giving time to yourself, family and friends.”
