'I may have been up a point': Conor Benn says judges missed the mark in Chris Eubank Jr loss

The fallout from Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn’s fight has continued this morning as Benn publicly disagreed with the judges’ decision in his narrow loss at Hotspur Stadium.

The pair went the full distance in a thrilling but brutal 12-round bout, with Eubank winning by unanimous decision, 116-112.

In a new video, though, Benn claimed that he won the fight by a point.

He said: “I watched the fight back, I personally had me up a point.

“I wouldn't have moaned at - you know - a point either way, but four points is a bit wide in my opinion, but we keep it moving.

“What an evil way [to lose].”

But he said he would not dwell on the result, committing to improving as he has already returned to training.

“I’m not gonna cry over spilt milk. I just have to do better, work harder, do the best I can.

“We gotta keep it moving. We’re just getting started. Attack the week.”

Eubank and Benn’s fight contract reportedly includes a clause for an optional rematch, meaning the pair could get back in the ring shortly. Benn’s latest statements could add more fuel to the fire in what was already a hugely contentious fight.

While Eubank was only released from hospital this morning following extended precautionary checks, Benn has already resumed his training, less than 48 hours on from the fight’s conclusion.

Having pointed to his extended hiatus from boxing as a potential limiting factor in the fight, he could stand to give Eubank a run for his money in any potential rematch.
