‘I made her hold my dog’: Woman tries to take her dog into Target. Then a worker intervenes

Retail workers are responsible for several tasks, including serving customers, replenishing shelves, and maintaining store cleanliness, among others. But what about ‘dog-sitter?’ That’s what happened to one Target worker after barring a customer from bringing their dog into the store.

“Yo. First of all, I’m not supposed to be in Target,” TikToker @donbabyge says as she walks inside a Target. Then, she pans over to the store’s entrance. “But they wouldn’t let me bring my dog in.”

When the content creator zooms in between the automatic sliding doors, a female associate is facing the glass window, smiling while holding a small Yorkie.

“So, I made her hold my dog,” she explains, cracking up.

However, the Target associate was a good sport about it, @donbabyge sharing in the caption, “she was sooo nice to offer tho ngl lolll not target pumping up their customer service w doggy daycare.”

What did viewers think?

The video garnered over 200,000 views and sparked debate in the comments section. Many were happy to see the possibility of this brightening the Target employee’s day.

“Honestly she’s probably having the best day at work now,” one viewer wrote.

“You probably made her day better,” a second echoed.

The video made its way to the Target associate in the clip’s FYP, where she confirmed this was a memorable shift.

“Omg that’s meee!! I love animals but since only service animals are allowed, I was happy to hold her puppy while she shopped. One of the best work days ever!! Thank you!!” she said, leading a sweet interaction between her and @donbabyge.

Despite the positive reaction from the associate, others didn’t approve of the content creator bringing her dog.

“Highkey hate seeing ppl bring dogs into grocery stores,” one commenter remarked.

“These pll that can’t leave their pets at home need to order for pick up,” another stated.

Target pet policy

Businesses like Target only allow service animals to enter the building in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). These are working animals trained to perform tasks related to the person’s disability; they are entitled to be allowed inside under the law. Emotional support animals don’t fall under this category.

Furthermore, Target sticks to strict health and safety standards, particularly in its grocery sections. Allowing pets in their stores opens the doors to sanitation concerns and even allergic reactions from fellow customers, according to American Service Pets. Not only can these violations compromise health protocol, but the retail giant could also face a lawsuit. Because @donbabyge’s wasn’t a service animal, it couldn’t join her on her Target run.
