'I'm still pinching myself' - Duncan Ferguson opens up on working with Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti

Duncan Ferguson has opened up on his relationship with new Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti.

The former enjoyed a successful spell as temporary manager before the arrival of the Italian, helping the Blues recover from a Merseyside derby embarrassment in strong fashion.

The 48-year-old led the Blues to a win over Chelsea and two draws against Manchester United and Arsenal in the Premier League, while unfortunately exiting the League cup on penalties to Leicester City.

The Everton hero is now assistant to Ancelotti, and admitting he is loving learning from a world class manager.

Ferguson told Everton's general meeting on Tuesday: "Well it's obviously amazing isn't it? He's here as well so I can't say anything else!

"No but we've got one of the best managers in the world, possibly one of the best there's ever been with leagues and Champions Leagues...he's won everywhere. He's done it all and he's a legend of the game.

"I'm still pinching myself that I'm actually sitting alongside him. I'm just trying to take it all in, I'm glad he's my techer and hopefully he has a good pupil."

Ancelotti also discussed how Ferguson has helped him settle in at Goodison Park.

And the boss revealed his assistant paid for him and his staff to have a meal upon their arrival on Meresyside.

"Duncan explained really well how it is to be an Evertonian. I was invited for dinner with all the staff, he paid for everything, we went to a pub."

Ferguson couldn't help piping up with a joke at this point, however.

He said: "We went to McDonalds by the way!"

After a lot of laughter from the room, Ancelotti continued: "I have some difficulty sometimes to understand him! But he has the same problem!

"But it's a really exciting moment for me [being Everton manager]."
