'I’m starving' says Come Dine With Me contestant forced to cook her own food

A professional chef was left annoyed and "starving" after being made to cook her own meal on Come Dine With Me: The Professionals. Today's episode (July 1, 2022) saw owners of Manchester restaurants compete to wow the other chefs.

The incident took place at OnePlus, a Chinese restaurant owned by married couple Michelle and Alan. However, the eatery is not your typical Chinese restaurant as the menu contains delicacies such as animal brains.

On the show, the couple opted for more traditional meats with chicken and pork included in their menu for their guests. Alan said that they would offer their guests a dining experience they’ve never had before, which involved the guests having to cook the food themselves on a barbecue.

Although Alan and Michelle cooked the starter, the vegetables and rice for the dinner, the guests had to cook the BBQ meat for their main course. But the One Plus owners' unique idea wasn’t exactly everyone's cup of tea.

Dawn, from the Wild West-themed Old School BBQ Restaurant, complained that she was left hungry while the barbecue was waiting to heat up. She said: ‘‘It was really slow to get the meat cooking. I’m starving. I just wanted to eat our dinner’’.

Alan and Michelle had a BBQ panel embedded in the dining table for the group and had seasoned the food before giving it to the other chefs they were hosting to grill themselves on the BBQ. Feedback from Dawn’s business partner, Mark, said, he would have liked to see Alan and Michelle’s cooking.

Despite the criticisms, Alan and Michelle ended up winning the competition, so it looked like it worked out for them in the end.
