I'm shocked to find special needs children fed religious views as facts

Twice a week we publish problems that will feature in a forthcoming Dear Jeremy advice column in the Saturday Guardian so that readers can offer their own advice and suggestions. We then print the best of your comments alongside Jeremy's own insights. Here is the latest dilemma – what are your thoughts?

I work at a special educational needs school where the students are among the most disabled imaginable. I love my work and the students are an inspiration. Recently I have been in RE lessons, where the concept of heaven and hell were put to the 11- and 12-year-olds as factual and well-supported entities. The teacher stated that Judaism also believed in these concepts, which is untrue.

The issue I have is that though the students are aged 11 or 12, their mental age is less than this. I feel totally uneasy with this situation where vulnerable students are being fed propaganda of this nature, but know that if I bring it to the attention of the management I will be sacked.

Is there any avenue to explore with this situation, or do I simply have to put up with it?
