'I'm scratching my eyes!' - Arsenal fans go wild after VAR decision vs West Ham

Arsenal picked up an important three points as they recorded a 1-0 win over West Ham in the London derby on Saturday afternoon.

The win moves Mikel Arteta's men to within five points of fourth placed Chelsea ahead of the Blues' game against Arsenal on Sunday. The result also means that the Gunners remain unbeaten in the league since the turn of the year.

With the game heading into the last 10 minutes with the scores locked at 0-0, Alexandre Lacazette found the back of the net only for the celebrations to be cut short by the assistant's raised flag.

Cue a lengthy VAR check to see if the call was correct.

After a couple of minutes checking, VAR gave the signal to reward the goal, with pictures showing that the Frenchman was just onside when the ball was played.

That goal proved to be the difference between the two teams, with Arsenal keeping the three points at the Emirates Stadium.

The newly introduced system has been one of the main talking points in the Premier League so far this season, and after the goal was awarded, fans took to social media, with many happy with the presence of the system.

VAR has come under a lot of criticism this season, for both the delay of decisions and the decisions made, and Arsenal fans feel that they have been on the end of more than their fair share of contentious rulings by the new system this season.

Arsenal are next in action when they take on reigning Premier League Champions Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in the league.

Another win in that match would make qualification for the Champions League next season a distinct possibility.
