'I'm proud to be leaving Swansea in a better place' Oli McBurnie's personal social media message after Sheffield United transfer

Oli McBurnie says he is proud to be leaving Swansea City "in a better place than it was" as he departs for Sheffield United.

After persistent interest and multiple bids from the Blades this summer transfer window, McBurnie was officially unveiled as a Sheffield United player on Friday.

The Swans had accepted an improved bid of £18m, which could rise to £20m once add-ons are included. Chairman Trevor Birch has spoken about how the deal was too good to turn down. You can read the full interview here.

When the move was confirmed, an official statement was released where McBurnie spoke movingly about his time in Wales. You can read the full statement here.

Now, the Scot has shared a personal message directly with fans, where he speaks of his pride in leaving the club "in a better place than it was".

McBurnie netted 24 goals in all competitions for Swansea last season, and has now put pen to paper on a four-year contract with his new club.

Bradford City, McBurnie's former club which he joined Swansea from in 2015, will take 15% of the transfer fee.
