Fictional vice presidentJulia Louis-Dreyfus took a series of swipes at Donald Trump, when she appeared at the Democratic National Convention to declare: “I’m proud to be a nasty woman.”

The 59-year-old actor, who played vice president Selina Meyer, in the HBO series Veep that ran between 2012 – 2019, appeared to make a series of jokes employing one-time presidential hopeful Andrew Yang as her stand-up partner.

The Hillsuggested that the slapstick, in which they deliberately mispronounced the name of Mr Trump’s vice president, Mike Pence, was a poke at those Republicans who have refused to pronounce correctly the name of the Democrats’ vice presidential candidate, Kamala Harris.

“I cannot wait to see her debate our current vice president, Meeka Pints,” said Ms Louis Dreyfus said. “Or is it Paints?”

“It’s pronounced Pahnce, I believe,” said Mr Yang. “It’s some kind of weird foreign name,” Ms Louis-Dreyfus said.

Ms Louis-Dreyfus then called on people to text “30330” for updates on the Biden campaign.

“An easy way to remember 30330, is that’s the way Donald Trump will finally release his tax returns,” she said.

“If we all vote, there’s nothing Facebook, Fox News and Vladimir Putin can do to stop us.”

The actor also took aim at the president habit of referring to women he does not appear to like, including Ms Harris, as “nasty”.

“30330. That would be the president’s golf score if he didn’t cheat,” she added.

“OK, look. I’ll admit that was a little nasty. But we all know he’s a cheater. And I’m proud to be a nasty, nasty woman.”
