‘I'm on my knees’ - Arsenal fans react after Jose Mourinho spotted at the Emirates

Jose Mourinho was in attendance at Emirates Stadium as Arsenal fought back to clinch a last-gasp 3-2 win over Vitoria in the Europa League.

The Portuguese wasn't shown by TV cameras and is believed to have watched the game in an executive box in the East Stand Upper.

Mourinho, whose presence excited Arsenal fans with the pressure surrounding Unai Emery, has been without a club since parting ways with Manchester United in December 2018.

Although, the Gunners came out victorious, the buildup to the match was dominated yet another omission of Mesut Ozil, who starred under Mourinho at Real Madrid.

Emery's choice to not start the German since he captained Arsenal in a 5-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest in September has left some Arsenal fans confused.

Arsenal 3-2 Vitoria: Unai Emery post-match press conference

Especially after the Arsenal boss claimed: "In the last two or three weeks his (Ozil's) training has improved. I haven't closed the possibility of playing him."

Behind until the 80th minute, Nicolas Pepe, a player Mourinho has admitted he knows well, stepped up to rescue the side from a second embarrassing defeat within a week.

This  got fans talking, as did the fact that the 56-year-old has been ruled out of the running to be the next Borussia Dortmund manager by sporting director Michael Zorc.

Despite all this commotion, Mourinho was not at Emirates Stadium to talk about taking over from Unai Emery.

The Setubal born manager was there to support his hometown club Vitoria who gave a good account of themselves over the course of the 90 minutes.

Former-Spurs youngster Marcus Edwards put them ahead before Bruno Duarte added their second before half-time.

The return fixture sees Arsenal take on Vitoria at the Estadio D. Afonso Henriques on November 6 following meetings with Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Wolves.
