"I'm not superstitious" - Brentford boss Thomas Frank out to end wretched play-off hoodoo

Brentford face Swansea in the 'richest game in football' later this afternoon.

The Championship play-off final not only offers the winners a place among the elite in English football, but it comes with the added bonus of a huge cash injection.

The winners' coffers are expected to be boosted to the tune of £170million.

Plenty riding on today then, and if that pressure wasn't enough the Bees have a wretched play-off hoodoo they are desperate to shake off. Should Thomas Frank's side lose today they would set an unwanted record of TEN unsuccessful play-off campaigns.

Most managers might have concerns regarding that record - but not Frank.

"I'm not superstitious," he said.

"I know how the human mind works and of course you've heard stories about black cats or ladders.

"It comes into your mind and you think 'what should I do?'. So I understand why people think like that but personally I can't live my life like that.

"My approach is to analyse things, make sure we do better, and there's a lot of emotions about how we make the narrative of going into a final."

Both sides are aiming to go one better than last season. Brentford were losing finalists to Fulham, whilst Swansea were edged out by the Bees at the semi-final stage.

Today's game will have 12,000 fans present, with 5,000 supporters from each club.
