'I'm not slow!' - West Ham star Declan Rice's hilarious reaction to his new FIFA 22 rating

By Nathan Bliss & Sam Hill

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice has reacted to his FIFA 22 Ultimate Team rating, but has questioned EA Sports over a few of his card's statistics.

FIFA 22 is available for those who have pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition of the game on Monday, September 27, with the Standard Edition not due out until October 1, 2021.

EA SPORTS have already confirmed the top 20 highest-rated Premier League players for this year, including the top 22 highest-rated players, with Lionel Messi top of the list for a fourth consecutive year.

After a fantastic 12 months for the Hammers and England, in which Rice helped the club earn European football for the first time in five years, as well as being a pivotal player for England in the Euro 2020 finals as they finished runners-up, EA Sports have rewarded the 22-year-old with an upgrade to his overall rating.

The Hammers vice-captain has been upgraded to an 82 overall rating for FIFA 22 Ultimate Team, with significant improvements in key card stats.

As you can see from the ratings above, all of Rice's card stats have been upgraded, with significant improvements made to his dribbling, shooting, passing and defending.

However, Rice is still unhappy with a few aspects of his FIFA 22 player card, as he reacted to his new FUT 22 rating in a video on the England YouTube channel with Jack Grealish.

"If I'm an 80, I will snap this card in half!" said Rice before revealing his FIFA 22 player rating.

"Genuinely, I will RKO or spear it!

"Ah, it's not that bad, I'll take it.

"A cheeky little 82, to be fair I'm happy with that," Rice claimed as he revealed his FUT 22 card.

"You should be higher than that surely," said England teammate Grealish who seemed to be more disappointed for Rice than the Hammers midfielder himself.

Reacting to his new pace rating first, Rice was clearly confused.

"I'm not slow! I'm not slow, that's the thing!

"81 defence, 79 physical and 74 dribble...mate, I'm convinced they [EA Sports] just sit at a computer 'cause they're bored writing a thousand players down and go 'yeah he's a sixty-something, he's a seventy-something...done."

At the end of the video, Rice jokes with Grealish saying "at least I look better on this card than I do in previous years!"

"I look like I've seen about 10 ghosts in that [FIFA 17 card] one!"

Grealish was very complimentary about Rice in the video, saying: "You know what's mad, Dec is one of the best holding midfielders in the league yet there's still going to be some people higher-rated than him."

"It's just a game though, that's FIFA for you," Rice replied.

"Nah, being serious, I'm happy with that, I'm buzzing."

FIFA 22 has an official UK and worldwide release date of Friday, October 1, 2021, but some editions will allow you to play FIFA 22 slightly earlier than this.

If you pre-order the FIFA 22 Ultimate Edition on PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/series X/series S, and PC you’ll be able to play from Monday, September 27, 2021, with the Standard Edition allowing fans to play from the game's official UK and worldwide release date of October 1, 2020.
