'I'm loving it!' Cardiff City star says Steve Morison's side is a joy to play in and ramps up Bristol City clash

Cardiff City defender Perry Ng says he is loving playing in Steve Morison's Bluebirds side and says the manager has got them exhibiting a good brand of football.

Morison has overseen a style shift in the Welsh capital as he looks to move Cardiff away from direct football to a more progressive, possession-based approach.

Bringing in 15 players this summer was key to that change and the early signs are the Bluebirds are a lot more confident on the ball and willing to take the game to their opponents.

That was apparent at West Brom, and the hard-fought point at The Hawthorns is an example of the progress the team are making. Ng, who put in another solid display at the back, says he was glad he and his team-mates put in a good performance for Jamilu Collins who went off injured after just three minutes.

Ng said: "I think it's a performance we can be proud of. To come here, it's a tough place, to lose JC in the first few minutes. I'm devastated for him. I'm glad we put a good performance on and we wish him all the best. We had to dig in deep, but it's another clean sheet, which is very good - we need to keep that up.

"I thought we were brave on the ball, and I think we were unlucky not to win the match. I think we performed really well, we were brave and I'm really proud. I think the way we're playing, we're going to create a lot of chances, so it's just about finishing them. But, you can't complain - we've come here, got a clean sheet and a point, so we go again on Sunday.

"I'm loving it. The way we're playing, it's a joy to play in. Morro has got us playing really good football, so I'm really enjoying it. It was a tough first game with the sending off, but that happens, so we've just got to keep keeping clean sheets and keep picking up points."

Ng played alongside Jack Simpson against the Baggies, with the central defender making his debut for the Bluebirds after moving from Rangers earlier this month. Despite not having much game-time under his belt, Ng says his team-mate did well.

"I thought he was brilliant today," Ng added. "I thought he did really well, he was a joy to play with. He's only had 45 minutes in pre-season, I think he had a bit of cramp at the end but he was really good and a clean sheet."

It's the Severnside derby up next for Morison and Ng, and after last year's results against their rivals the defender says a certain degree of retribution is needed.

"It's a big game, a derby," said Ng of the clash on Sunday. "They done us last year so we owe them one. We've got to go there, be brave, keep a clean sheet and see what happens."
