Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta's team selection for this evening's Carabao Cup quarter-final against Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium has sparked a huge reaction from the Gunners' supporters.
The Gunners, who have not won the League Cup since they defeated Sheffield Wednesday in the 1993 final at Wembley, head into this evening's meeting with Pep Guardiola's side having lost seven of their last 10 domestic matches, including four of their last five.
After stopping a three-match losing run at home to Southampton last Wednesday evening, drawing 1-1 thanks to a second half leveller from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who misses this evening's clash with City through injury, the Gunners fell to another defeat on Saturday, going down 2-1 against Everton at Goodison Park.
However, in both an attempt to keep both his squad fresh over the hectic festive period and try and mastermind a return to winning ways, Arteta has made several changes to the side that lost against the Toffees at the weekend.
In total, the Spaniard has made eight changes to his starting line-up, with the likes of Gabriel, back from suspension, Joseph Willock, Alexandre Lacazette and Gabriel Martinelli all coming into the side.
Arsenal starting line-up : Runarsson; Cedric, Mustafi, Gabriel, Kolasinac; Maitland-Niles, Elneny, Ceballos, Willock; Lacazette, Martinelli.
Most of the reaction from Arsenal supporters on social media has centred around the return of Martinelli to the starting line-up, with the Brazilian earning his first start since suffering a serious knee injury back in June.
Though Arsenal's supporters are delighted to see the Brazilian youngster back in the fold, the remainder of the Gunners' starting line-up has attracted criticism.
