'I'm aware' - Liverpool sent transfer warning after Leroy Sane links

Liverpool and Manchester United fans have been told not to get 'too exited' over the rumours linking Bayern Munich attacker Leroy Sane with a move to their clubs.

Sane left Manchester City in 2020 to join the Bundesliga giants but he has recently been liked with a transfer back to the Premier League.

Reports from Spain suggested Liverpool, along with rivals United, were considering making a bid for the Germany international after losing star man Sadio Mane to Bayern.

Sane played 135 times for City after moving there from Schalke and scored 39 goals in that time - often causing Jurgen Klopp's side plenty of problems when coming up against them.

But Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has poured cold water over the rumours that he could be heading to Anfield - or Old Trafford.

Romano wrote in his Caught Offside column: "I’m aware that there’s growing talk of Leroy Sane being targeted by the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United, but I wouldn’t get too excited about it just yet.

“So far, Bayern have no intention of selling Leroy Sane. Robert Lewandowski has just left and more solutions will be needed throughout the season. It will be a tough deal for any club, and there are no offers on the Bayern table yet.

"I believe that without Lewandowski in the team, Sane could have a bigger role and improve on what has been a slightly disappointing spell with the Bavarian giants so far."
