'I'm at a better club' - what Ben Osborn had to say about Sheffield United future

Ben Osborn is determined to stay and fight for his place at Sheffield United, as he waits for his first Premier League start of the season.

Osborn joined the Blades from Nottingham Forest in the summer, making the move from the City Ground for a fee understood to be in the region of £3.5m after playing more than 200 games.

There has been speculation that Osborn could leave Bramall Lane during the transfer window this month, with a number of Championship clubs monitoring his situation.

The ex-Red, though, believes that despite just four Premier League appearances off the bench and a handful of cup outings, his career is still moving in the right direction - and he knows that patience could be a virtue.

“My career is still on an upward incline,” Osborn said.

“I’m at a better club and training with better players.

“Now I’ve got to be patient.

“It’s been a test, but hopefully it makes me a better player in the long-run. It will certainly make me more hungry when I do get out there.”

Osborn admits while he can be frustrated at his lack of minutes, given the impressive start made to life in the Premier League by Chris Wilder’s Blades, knocking on the manager’s door to demand why he’s not been playing would be a fruitless exercise.

“Looking at the form of the lads and the results, you can’t complain about not being in there can you?” he said.

“It’s not like you can go knocking on the manager’s door and ask why.

“I’ve just got to stick with it, keep training well and make sure that I’m ready when the chance arises.

“That’s what being a professional is all about.”
