I’m nearing 65 and retiring on a pension of around £30,000. I’ve had medical insurance through work, but it ends when I leave. I’ve had quotes from £80 through to £250 a month to take it out privately, even though I haven’t had cancer or heart disease. Is it worth it? Will I be hit with huge extra premiums?
