Drivers can land themselves in serious trouble if caught using a phone behind the wheel - no matter the reason, or where you are.
Any slip in attention on the roads can lead to tragic consequences, so recently police have been cracking down on rule-breakers.
But with most of Britain's drive-thrus asking punters to tap their card to pay for their meal, how can customers stay on the right side of the law?
Any driver could face fines of up to £200 if they use their phones while behind the wheel, even at a drive-thru.
But not if you do it the correct way, North Wales Live reports.
Rules against using your mobile phone in the car have been in force in the UK since 2003.
That includes paying, using your phone as a GPS, sending texts or answering calls.

In 2019, the High Court pointed out that the modern use of phones is not explicitly banned in the legislation - which was designed to stop people texting or speaking on the phone while driving.
But that raised more questions than answers for a lot of drivers.
In a bid to answer these rowing concerns one police officer has taken to Tik Tok to show you the correct way to use your phone at a drive-thru.
The account @georgescarmedia, is run by a police officer who answers all users car related law questions to help drivers better understand regulations they must follow, and any changes to driving laws.
In this short clip, the user is filmed in his police uniform while driving through a Costa drive-thru as he explains how to legally pay with your mobile phone following recent law changes.
He said: “With the new mobile phone laws there has been there has been a lot of talk on TikTok about ‘can you pay using your phone while going through a drive-thru?’
"So we’ve come to a drive-thru.
“We’ve come to a drive-thru and we’re going to demonstrate how you can legally use your phone to pay.
“So you’ll notice at the moment I haven’t touched the phone. The phone is still in the holder, I don’t need to touch it.
“As we come up to the window we’re just going to put the handbrake on, put it in neutral, and[...]I can now use the phone to pay.
“Into drive, handbrake off, and we’re off with the phone back in the holder and that is how you legally use your mobile phone to pay in a drive-thru”.
