'I'm a cleaning fanatic and there's 5 gross areas in the home people forget to clean'

We all long for a sparkling clean home - a place to sit back and relax after a long day; a sanctuary of calm to unwind in.

Unfortunately real life gets in the way and it's incredibly tough to keep your home gleaming 24/7, especially with a busy family running around.

For those of us who pride ourselves in reaching every nook and cranny when cleaning, there might still be areas you've been neglecting without realising, according to one cleaning fanatic.

TikTok cleaning guru @homethirty_one has shared the top five places people are forgetting to clean in their kitchen and bathroom.

In a video titled 'five things and places you may forget to clean,' the TikTok user shares the little-known areas that often get missed, and it makes for grim reading.

Regularly posting various different cleaning tips and tricks, the cleaning lover's video has made people realise just how many areas there are to clean in the home.

The first thing they share is cleaning your toothbrush and toothbrush holders. The cleaning fanatic encourages people to use half a Milton sterilising tablet to kill germs and bacteria in the holder and on the toothbrush by filling the holder with the tablet and water and popping the toothbrush in top down.

You can pick up a pack of 40 Milton tablets for £2.49 on Amazon, or £2.99 at Boots.

The next area that often gets overlooked is the dreaded toilet brushes and holder.

The guru says to disinfect the holder with Zoflora and hot water and leave for five minutes pouring both Zoflora and hot water directly into the holder.

Zoflora will set you back £3 from the likes of Amazon or Ocado, or you can pick bottles up in Wilko or Tesco.

Moving away from the bathroom, the cleaning whizz also highlights areas in the kitchen that are easily missed too.

First up is underneath the kitchen cupboards. For this, they suggest spraying a cloth with Fabulosa disinfectant and wiping underneath them all cleaning away all the grime that you can't see in plain sight.

Another area in the kitchen is the cooker hood filter that may get missed. The pro leaves it to soak it in hot water and washing up liquid before scrubbing it.

Finally the last place they highlight are radiators, in which they advise to clean with a cap full of fabric conditioner and hot water and wipe with a cloth.

Not only does it clean it nicely, it also makes them "smell amazing when the heating is on" too, a win win.

The popular cleaning video has racked up over 1.1 million views, 86.2K likes and thousands of comments with people saying: "WHY haven't I thought of this."

"I work as a housekeeper and these are the things that are most dirty," one person wrote.

Another added: "I lowkey can't wait to do this when I have my own place."

However some disagree with the toothbrush hack and claim washing in mouthwash is safer and better than the sterilising tablet.
