I’m a Celebrity viewers criticise ‘pointless’ use of helicopters in launch show: ‘It really irritated me’

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! has returned for a new pandemic friendly series – and viewers are already expressing anger regarding how it's taking place.

The first episode of the popular ITV show saw Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly introduce the new location, which is a castle in north Wales.

Despite not taking place in Australia, half of this year's celebrities entered the series on a helicopter.

However, considering they had to be socially-distanced, they were each given their own to travel on.

Viewers then noticed that, after getting off the helicopter, the celebrities all greeted each other with a hug anyway.

"Why the f*** have the celebrities got their own helicopter just to get off and give each other a hug?" one viewer asked, adding: "Pointless."

Another said: "The carbon footprint of 5 helicopters dropping off 5 celebrities to be ‘socially distanced’ and then they all get out and HUG anyway?! Wtf? Put em all in one helicopter no?"

Someone else stated: "Is anybody else wound up by things like I'm a Celebrity? Watching famous people flying around in their own helicopter, hugging each other, having a holiday."

"Anyone else really irritated by the fact that the celebrities on I’m a Celebrity have arrived in separate helicopters and range rovers?" another viewer said. "Our poor planet."

As the contestants were introduced in the launch show, many people expressed shock after realising they’ve known Jessica Plummer for a lot longer than they might have realised.
