I'm a Celebrity viewers baffled as the hit ITV show keeps 'unnecessary' detail

I’m a Celeb fans sat down last night to enjoy the first episode of the hit series.

Like most television programmes, the production crew were forced to improvise for this year’s show due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Global restrictions on travel meant that the hit ITV show moved from its home in New South Wales in Australia to a castle in Wales, UK.

One of the details that has been permanent fixture throughout the 18 years the show has been on telly is the clock that informs viewers of the current time Down Under, reports Manchester Evening News.

So some fans were slightly baffled to see the UK-made show providing the time that is seemingly specific to Wales.

"The live time in the corner is unnecessary," tweeted one.

"Well aware what the time is in Wales," sniffed another.

"Didn’t know the time was the same in Wales as it is here," said another viewer sarcastically.

But others loved seeing the familiar detail.

"It’s great seeing the time still on the bottom of the screen," said one.

"Me sat here all amazed seeing the same time zone on our screen instead of the usual 7am," tweeted another.

"Gonna be weird being in the same time zone as the boys but here we go," said another.

Gwrych Castle in Abergele, north Wales, is the new home to 10 celebrities for the next three weeks as they leave their plush pads and luxuries far behind.

TV presenter Vernon Kay, broadcaster and journalist Victoria Derbyshire, former EastEnders stars Jessica Plummer and Shane Richie, Paralympic gold medallist Hollie Arnold MBE, Radio 1 DJ Jordan North, Corrie icon Beverley Callard, ballroom dancer AJ Pritchard, author and podcaster Giovanna Fletcher and Olympic legend Sir Mo Farah are this year's contestants bracing themselves for freezing temperatures in Wales instead of the sunny Gold Coast in Australia this year.

Their Welsh castle home has been transformed to make sure it is a fitting venue sitting in hills overlooking the A55 bypass and Welsh coastline.

The celebs' living and sleeping quarters are inside the castle.
