I'm A Celebrity sneak peek as the celebs take on the first trial

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! kicks off in typically terrifying style as the stars gather for the first trial.

Gwrych Castle in Abergele, north Wales, is the new home to 10 celebrities for the next three weeks as they leave their

plush pads and luxuries far behind.

The historic castle might be majestic, but the contestants find themselves at The Gates To Hell for their debut challenge.

As these sneak peak photos show, the celebrities arrive at The Gates To Hell - a huge gatehouse like structure positioned in front of Gwrych Castle - and hosts Ant and Dec explain that the celebrities have to work as a team to win 10 stars.  Every star is worth a meal for camp so they're not feasting on rice and beans.

The celebrities are locked in cages and work as a team to pass the stars from one side to the other, using either their hands or a magnet until all of them had moved the stars from one side of the cage to the other - and they're not alone.

They have 12 minutes to complete the task as they're joined by cockroaches, crickets and mealworms.

"Expect the unexpected," warn Ant and Dec.

For each celebrity that utters the words " I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! ' one is deducted from the total.

TV presenter Vernon Kay, broadcaster and journalist Victoria Derbyshire, former EastEnder stars Jessica Plummer and Shane Richie, Paralympic gold medallist Hollie Arnold MBE, Radio 1 DJ Jordan North, Corrie icon Beverley Callard, ballroom dancer AJ Pritchard, author and podcaster Giovanna Fletcher and Olympic legend Sir Mo Farah are this year's contestants bracing themselves for freezing temperatures in Wales instead of the sunny Gold Coast in Australia this year.

Some were flown over Snowdonia in a helicopter to make themselves at home and greeted by a scroll, boots and a walkie talkie while others were driven by jeep - and their first challenge was to abseil to the bottom of a cliff.

Inside the castle the washroom caused some concern amongst the campmates.

"Well I'm sorry but no. My hair.  I will look like I've had Donald Trump's hairdresser," complained Beverley, who played Liz McDonald in Coronation Street.

Gwrych Castle - a 19th century Grade I-listed building - has been transformed to make sure it is a fitting venue sitting in hills overlooking the A55 bypass and Welsh coastline.

The celebs' living and sleeping quarters are inside the castle.

They will need to chop logs for the campfire to keep warm and pump a boiler to provide hot water.

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! launches tonight at 9pm on ITV.
