I'm A Celebrity's Welsh castle 'overlooks dogging hotspot on beach'

This year's new I'm A Celebrity residence setting won't only be unique because of its haunted castle, but also because it also reportedly overlooks a dogging hotspot.

It'll certainly be an interesting experience for the 2020 stars...

Gwrych Castle, where I'm A Celebrity is set this year in Abergele, overlooks a beach which is known for having doggers, it has been claimed.

Its popularity in recent years has resulted in a swingers website naming it as a "hot spot".

According to the Daily Star, a local councillor said: "It’s a long standing issue. People have been going down to the beach and have been subjected to propositions."

Meanwhile, an insider told the publication: "The castle may be haunted but we reckon the only moans and groans they will hear will be from those doggers.

"They’re out in all weathers. The fact that it’s winter won’t stop them getting it on.”

This year's series of I'm A Celeb will feature a range of celebs, from two EastEnders stars to an Olympic champion.

Among them is soap star Shane Richie, who admitted that he was skint after his pantomime gigs, which were set for next month, were cancelled due to the pandemic.

Shane, who is paid around £100,000 for his pantomime gigs, previously admitted : "We were going to fit it around my other work as I was going on tour, doing a TV series and panto — but that all got cancelled in March.

“And now I am literally skint. You save money for a rainy day but you don’t expect the rainy day to last six months. Thankfully I’ve been able to borrow money from mates, my family and the bank and my wife is now very happy we can finally pay off the credit card.

"What an honour to be asked before lockdown. I am so grateful and I am really looking forward to being around adults again instead of my wife and three children."

Like Shane, the ITV show itself has also had to make changes for lockdown. With celebs unable to travel Down Under to the usual camp in Australia, bosses have instead set up at Gwrych Castle, Abergele in North Wales.

And joining Shane on the 20th series of the show are: fellow EastEnders star Jess Plummer, TV host Vernon Kay, Olympian Mo Farah, DJ Jordan North, author Giovanna Fletcher, Coronation Street star Beverley Callard, ex-Strictly pro AJ Pritchard, Paralympian Hollie Arnold and TV host and journalist Victoria Derbyshire.
