I'm a Celebrity's Welsh base camp 'spotted' near reservoir in high-security location

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! will take place in Wales this year, rather than usual Australia, and one fan thinks she's spotted the camp.

Due to the pandemic, the celebs are unable to travel down under with their families like they usually would, so bosses were forced to get creative.

The series will take place in a castle ruin later this year, with internet sleuths already pinpointing which one they think has been chosen due to its recent Facebook post.

Gwrych Castle wrote on Facebook: "Gwrych Castle and Estate will be temporarily closing to the public at 5pm on Sunday 23rd August until New Year.

But around 20 miles away, someone else spotted a brand new "base camp" being built, sparking rumours it will be where the celebs spend their stay.

Caroline George on Twitter posted photos of huts being erected in the area, and suggested they were being used for the ITV show.

She told the Daily Star she also saw security vans and TV production crews heading into the site on the north-western edge of the nearby revervoir.

She revealed: “We parked in the outside top end of the reservoir, so there were very few people around.

"You also can’t see them [the huts] from the visitor centre."

ITV has not yet confirmed where the series is set to take place this year.

It was recently reported show bookers are struggling to find talent who want to spend three weeks in the wet and windy Welsh countryside rather than the sunny outback of Queensland.

A celebrity agent told Talk TV: “Moving the show is a huge mistake – and they’ll need to put up more pounds to secure decent names in the future.

“The show doesn’t have the same appeal; they’d be better off scrapping it this year and returning once they’re able to film again in Australia.”
