I'm A Celebrity's Vernon Kay admits there was a heater in Gwrych Castle living quarters

Vernon Kay has said there was a heater in camp after weeks of debate over the temperatures during this year's I'm A Celebrity.

The ITV show took place at Gwrych Castle in Wales instead of the Australian jungle, but the lack of complaining about the cold from this year's campmates left many wondering if they had some form of heating.

Castle officials previously confirmed the medieval building has no mains electricity or running water, debunking the rumour the contestants were enjoying central heating.

But now finalist Vernon has confirmed there was at least a heater in the living quarters, although he claims it was "rarely used" and camp was indeed freezing.

It comes after AJ Pritchard said there were "heat lamps" that came on at night during a chat with his brother Curtis Pritchard on their podcast, AJ vs Curtis.

Asking the television presenter about it, Phillip Schofield said: "Were there heaters in there Vernon?"

Responding, the 2020 finalist said: "There was one heater in my living quarters but they were very rarely used I'll be honest with you.

"It was cold at night, it was freezing during the day because the draft from the door that went into the courtyard that sometimes remain open so the draft would come sweeping through and the heat that we got was very, very limited."

Speculation about heating in camp started after Vernon was spotted barefoot by eagle-eyed viewers in the castle, while AJ was also seen stripping off at night despite it being December.

Reacting to Vernon's interview, one social media user wrote: "#ThisMorning heaters in in the castle. Vernon Kay said it."

Another added: "The heaters weren't used, yeah sure Vernon. #ThisMorning."
