I'm A Celebrity's Saturday show starts with unexpected announcement

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! 2020 started almost a week ago and viewers have been enjoying seeing Ant and Dec back on their screens.

The show has had a shake-up, with a brand new location, renamed challenges and trials and a totally different theme.

I'm A Celeb is filmed from breathtaking Wales with camp based at Gwrych Castle in Abergele, and as such much of this year nods to medieval times.

While viewers have taken many of the changes in their stride, Saturday night's episode left ITV viewers all saying the same thing after a change to the format.

The show aired at a slightly earlier time of 8:45pm with presenter's Ant and Dec explaining the episode wouldn't be live as normal.

Dec said: "We are not live tonight, so we're watching the show at home."

Ant explained the show was instead a recap of the week's antics and unseen bits.

But those who were not expecting the change were not best pleased.

One person tweeted: "What? Why is it not a live show tonight? Why the recap after week one?"

While another added: "Why are they showing us a recap?? Acting as though we all haven't been watching since the first episode."

And a fourth commented: "Why are we having the best bits? I've watched it all week I don't need the best bits. The best bits are when it's a live show."

Another disgruntled fan pointed out I'm A Celeb wasn't Love Island, writing: "Why are we having a recap show... this isn't Love Island."

ITV previously confirmed to WalesOnline that Saturdays will consist of weekly "round-ups" featuring "the very best camp action" and "unseen footage".

Those familiar with ITV shows will know this is very similar indeed to the format used for ITV2's Love Island.

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! will return as normal on Sunday, November 22 at 9pm on ITV.
