I’m A Celebrity star Nick Knowles has entered the Vodafone Big Top 40 chart after delighting fans with his Adele cover.
The DIY SOS presenter had only been in the jungle a couple of days before making his musical career known, dropping his album Every Kind Of People into camp conversation.
And Knowles’ cover of Make You Feel My Love caught the attention of Radio X DJ Chris Moyles, who started a campaign to get the track into the charts.
On Sunday, Marvin Humes and Kat Shoob revealed that Knowles has entered the Vodafone Big Top 40 produced by Global, at number 32.
Earlier this week, Moyles announced his original target for the song was the top 100, later bolstering the campaign on social media.
He told listeners: “Let’s see if we can get Nick Knowles into the chart.
“Let’s see if we can get him into the top 100, and anything after that is a bonus. The dream would be the top 40.”
Knowles’ official Twitter account quickly acknowledged the campaign, tweeting: “INCREDIBLE. Nick is Number 1. @ChrisMoyles you are a legend”
The 56-year-old opened up about his musical past Down Under, explaining: “My brother’s a really good musician and I’ve always played along with him and a couple of years ago somebody heard me, I was playing on a rooftop bar in Soho with some other bands,” he said.
“Somebody from a record company saw me doing it and I got a phone call saying, ‘I’m from Universal, want to do an album?’”
