I'm A Celebrity's Joe Swash addresses BBC EastEnders return after claiming he had show's 'worst ever exit'

Joe Swash has admitted he would be open to returning to EastEnders 15 years after leaving the BBC soap. The actor, 41, who is currently appearing on I'm A Celebrity's all-star spin-off series filmed in South Africa, revealed he wasn't best pleased with the way his character's story ended.

Joe, who is now married to TV and Instagram star Stacey Solomon, made his first appearance on EastEnders as Mickey Miller back in 2003. What started out as a guest character, Mickey proved to be popular and was turned into a regular, with Joe appearing on the soap until 2008 when his character was written out.

The actor, who has returned to star in I'm A Celebrity after being crowned King of the Jungle back in 2008, has since told his campmates about his time on the soap, addressing a potential return after claiming he had the show's 'worst ever exit'.

Joe said in all the time he was on the soap, he never got to take part in one of the show's iconic 'doof doof' moments, not even when his character departed the programme to become a bell boy in Norwich, reports the Mirror.

Speaking in the jungle about returning to the BBC soap, Joe said: "I wouldn’t mind it. You know exactly what you’re doing, when you’re doing it, how you’re doing it. But they’ve never asked me mate, not once."

He admits he wasn't a big fan of his exit on the show - and was devastated he didn't get a 'doof doof'.

"I had the worst outro ever! I didn’t even leave at the end of the episode. So usually you leave at the end of the episode and you get the 'doof doof'. Mine, I went to Norwich to be a bell boy at a hotel," he said.

"Mid scene I just walked into the Vic and went, ‘Right, see you later’. They turned back to Phil, turned back to me and I’d gone. I was like, 'What, that’s it?' I was there five years and not one doof doof!"

Joe said EastEnders, alongside I'm A Celebrity, has always been a huge part of his life.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, Joe shared: "You know what, there are always rumours about EastEnders. I would definitely consider going back. But there’s not been any word and there’s not been any speak of it on my part but I will say there has been two jobs in my life that mean the absolute world to me and that was EastEnders and I’m A Celeb.

"EastEnders started me off on the amazing path that I’m on now, and I absolutely loved my time there."

He added: "I would never say never. I would never do that, but let's be honest, they don’t seem to need me at the minute but they know where I am when they do. I’m sure it might happen in the future though."
